uPVC door won't lock: cylinder, gearbox or alignment?
Short answer: If the handle lifts but the bolt will not throw, it is often the multipoint gearbox, not just the euro cylinder. If the key spins or will not turn, the cylinder may have failed. Call 0161 883 4053 and describe what the handle and key do.
What to know
A snapped or stiff euro cylinder is a straight swap on many Farnworth and Bolton terraces. We carry common sizes and can fit an anti-snap cylinder where the old one is a weak point.
When the door closes but the handle droops and nothing locks, the gear inside the door may have worn. Replacing only the cylinder will not fix that.
Composite doors with a keypad need the lock and keep aligned before codes are programmed. We check the door shuts square first, then set the lock and keypad together.

Is it safe to leave the door unlocked overnight?
If the door will not lock at all, treat it as an emergency. Ring 0161 883 4053 even late at night so we can secure the door or advise a temporary fix.
Can you repair instead of replacing the whole multipoint lock?
Sometimes, if parts are still made for that gear. On older doors it is often faster and cheaper to replace the worn gearbox or full strip with a current equivalent.
